Local Attractions & What's On in Bute
Mount Stuart House – This amazing Gothic mansion set in 300 acres of botanical gardens is well worth a visit.
Take an open top bus tour around the island from June and take in the stunning Ettrick Bay and why not stop for lunch. On the rest of the tour you will visit Kingarth, Scalpsie Bay, Kilchattan Bay, Kerrycroy Village which is designed as a little English village by the beach.
When you arrive back into Rothesay don’t forget to visit Rothesay Castle and the Museum.
There is a vast choice of activities to keep you in the outdoors including, cycling, fishing, walking, including the West Island Way, sailing, kayaking, golfing and horse riding
There are 3 golf clubs on the island all with stunning views of the island and surrounding area.

2018 brings the 5 yearly Fife Regatta back to the Clyde.
During the summer months the world’s last ocean going paddle steamer the Waverly visits the island and is well worth a trip on board.
Bute has berthing at Rothesay Harbour and Port Bannatyne.
Visit the beautiful gardens at Ardencraig and the Fernery at Ascog and of course Mount Stuart
The wildlife on Bute is not to be missed and you may catch a glimpse of Dolphins, Porpoises, Basking Sharks, Otters, deer to a whole variety of birds.
There is a good choice of bars and restaurants to finish of your busy day.
Before you leave be sure to spend a penny at the Victorian Public Toilets on the pier.
2018 saw the Islands first Pride weekend hosted by the Honky Tonk. Hopefully this event will grow year on year.
Butefest this year is located at the stunning Ettrick Bay. A great family friendly festival held in July.
The Highland games are another great day out held in August
